Thom Johnson, a lifetime resident of the Hudson valley, will present a hike with history on the old Cornish estate also known as Northgate. He has been hiking there for over 40 years and recently, with Rob Yasinsac discovered photographs and more on the history of the site. Part of what was learned is that Sigmund Stern who first put the estate together was also on the board of the Surprise lake camp. The hike will go from Surprise Lake Camp to the farm site then down to the ruins of Breakneck valley rd. to the site of the main house, greenhouse, gardens and pool. There will be historic photographs and history to be shared about how these two sites have long been connected.
This is a beginner's hike; plan to wear a good pair of hiking shoes & a water bottle
